Politico managing editor for policy news Clea Benson sent out the following to the staff on Monday evening:

We’re delighted to announce that our technology team is growing with the addition of Nate Robson as a deputy editor. Nate, a seasoned Washington hand, will help guide the core tech policy coverage that’s central to our ambitious global expansion plans.

Nate joins us from American Lawyer Media, where he’s worked as an editor since 2016. His duties there included co-leading the organization’s litigation team, working as the executive editor of The National Law Journal and leading the Supreme Court and regulatory team. After graduating from Bowling Green State University, he landed his first job at his hometown newspaper working as a police and courts reporter just as the 2008 recession hit the industry. After briefly debating going to law school or getting an MBA, he opted instead to continue his journalism career and moved to Sioux City, Iowa, and Oklahoma City, where he covered education policy, and later to D.C. to cover trade policy before moving over to American Lawyer.

In his free time, Nate’s often exploring the food and wine scene with his wife in Northern Virginia or walking his two dogs. He also enjoys unwinding by painting/playing Warhammer 40K (especially during the COVID-19 lockdown), a slightly less nerdy hobby thanks to Henry Cavill.

Nate gets started today. Please join us in welcoming him to Politico.
