The funeral itself is just one part of the day’s proceedings. Here’s the full timetable:
6.30am: Lying in state ends
8.00am: Doors of Westminster Abbey open for congregation to take their seats
10.44am: The Queen’s coffin will be moved from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey, accompanied by King Charles and other members of the royal family
10.52am: Procession arrives at Westminster Abbey
11.00am: Funeral service starts
11.55am: Last post is sounded, followed by two minutes of silence
12.00pm: Service ends with the national anthem, after which the procession leaves Westminster Abbey. It will proceed down Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade, the Mall and Constitution Hill before arriving at Wellington Arch
1.00pm: The coffin is transferred to a hearse for the journey to Windsor
3.10pm: The coffin arrives in Windsor and a procession to Windsor castle starts
3.40pm: The King and other members of the royal family join the procession in Windsor
4:00pm: Committal service begins at St George’s Chapel
7.30pm: The Queen to be buried privately in St George’s Chapel
